Tim Cook: AppleTV is of “intense interest” to Apple, “stay tuned” on Facebook integration

While Tim Cook didn’t stray too much away from expected answers at his interview with Walt Mossberg and Kate Chopin at D10, he did let a couple of key points slip.

First, and perhaps most importantly, is that the AppleTV remains “of intense interest” to Apple and their strategy going forward, despite the fact that they still consider it to be merely a “hobby”. When asked directly if Apple was planning on building a television of their own, he answered with a meek “I’m not going to answer that.”

Another interesting point to come out of the interview has to do with Apple’s relationship to Facebook. While iOS and OS X Mountain Lion both feature pretty deep integration with Twitter, Facebook integration is noticeably absent. Well that might be about to change, as Tim Cook has said that there’s more that both Apple and Facebook “can do together”. When directly asked if Apple’s platforms were going to feature Facebook integration his answer was for us to “stay tuned”.

So that’s one box we can check off for WWDC June 11th, right?
