Microsoft will has posted on their Building Windows 8 blog that Windows 8 will be entering its “phases of RTM” in around 2 months. RTM stands for Release to Manufacturing and is the build that will be pressed to disc and released to customers.
As The Verge points out, this would be inline with a potential October release, which is in line with the Q4 release that Microsoft and their OEMs had previously hinted to.
The Windows 8 development cycle has seemed to be decently accelerated compared to past versions of Windows. Microsoft has also been pretty forward with their development process this time around, making frequent and detailed posts on the Building Windows 8 blog.
We’ll have more on the Windows 8 Release Preview as the day goes on, including a hands-on by the end of the day.
