How do you feel about the new Mac ads?
If you’ve been paying any attention to the Olympics lately, you might have noticed that Apple has begun airing some new advertisements for their Mac line of computers. There are three new ones in total – all of them featuring the same wide eyed young looking genius bar representative who is called upon to do simple, mundane tasks – like create a gallery with iPhoto, or whip up a Keynote presentation. They’re simple enough ads, but what isn’t simple is the reaction and debate that they’ve caused.
Reaction to the ads were almost universally negative all throughout the internet. I remember watching the Opening Ceremonies live when they first were aired and the huge avalanche of negative reaction pouring into my Twitter feed as they did. But there have been some arguments made that these ads are not only good, but necessary by some in the tech community, saying that Apple needs to focus on switchers and how easy it is to do certain tasks, and that Apple will help you along the way.
So what say you? Do you like the new direction Apple is taking with these ads, or are you part of the crowd that just isn’t having their fancy tickled? Feel free to sound out in the comments or participate in the quick poll below. You can also check out the ads after the break for those who either haven’t seen them yet or need a refresher.
