Walmart follows in Target’s footsteps, drops the Kindle lineup
A couple of months back we reported on a story about how Target was planning on dropping the Kindle from their brick and mortar store’s shelves for undisclosed reasons, and now according to a leaked internal memo, it looks like Walmart has decided to do the same.
Reuters quotes that the memo notes that they “have recently made the business decision to not carry Amazon tablets and eReaders beyond our existing inventory and purchase commitments,” adding that the change will affect all previous models as well as the recently announced Kindle products.
Amazon is one of the largest marketplaces in the world, and as more and more users decide that shopping online is a viable alternative to shopping in a physical store, companies like Amazon pose more and more of a threat to more traditional set-ups such as Walmart and Target – though we have yet to know the specifics on why the relationship has seemingly gone south.
