If you weren’t already aware of exactly how huge the iPhone 5 launch has been, this should give you some perspective – Apple has just announced the official sales numbers for the new iPhone 5, and as could be predicted by even a brain-dead monkey, they sold a butt ton of them – over five million, to be exact.
In the company’s official statement, Apple said that “While we have sold out of our initial supply, stores continue to receive iPhone 5 shipments regularly and customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date.“
For comparison purposes, the iPhone 4S sold around four million devices its’ first weekend, and the iPhone 4 sold a mere 1.7 million devices its first three days on sale – it’s truly staggering to even think about how large the demand for Apple’s latest and greatest has become.
Apple also announced that there are now over 100 million iOS 6 users out there, running on iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad devices.
