Samsung teases something “small”, makes advocates of smaller phones giddy

One of the biggest flaws of the Galaxy S III in many’s opinion is that screen – not that there’s anything technically wrong with it (it’s actually got some beautiful, vibrant colors), but at 4.8″ it’s simply too big. Well, fans of smaller smartphones, it seems that Samsung might have heard your cries of desperation – the company is holding a press event on October 11th, and on the invite pictured above are the words “Prepare for something small to make a big entrance” on top of the usual stylized “S” logo, hinting that Samsung is perhaps about to release a smaller Galaxy S III smartphone.

Of course, the evidence is hardly conclusive – this could be for something like perhaps a smaller tablet, or a low-end Galaxy S smartphone rather than for a high-end Galaxy S III type device – but a guy can dream, right?
