The beast awakens

iOS 7.1 slated for March release alongside Apple TV update

apple-logo-wwdc13Good news, Apple fans – while the company has been relatively quiet since the announcement and release of the iPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina Display last October, things may be about to change as sources have recently informed popular and trustworthy Apple rumor blog 9to5Mac that the company is planning on releasing their first major update to iOS since iOS 7 last summer, iOS 7.1, this March.

iOS 7.1 in and of itself is nothing new – the company has been testing numerous beta builds of months now, however the company has yet to officially confirm any sort of target date or specific feature set for the upcoming version of iOS. Improvements include usability and design improvements to the new design language introduced in iOS 7,  iOS in the Car support, performance and stability improvements, and – presumably – more.

What’s more, Apple may be planning on addressing an update to their “hobby” platform, Apple TV, alongside the release of iOS 7.1. Apple has long been rumored to be preparing an updated version of Apple TV, bringing a combination of both new hardware and new software for fans of Apple’s entertainment center. Rumored improvements have included beefier remote support, gaming support, as well as the potential of an official third party Apple TV app ecosystem.

This is all just a rumor at the moment, so we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we know more. The report claims that Apple may be preparing a special media event to outline the changes, so keep an eye out for that as well!
