Android 4.0, eight months later: on 10% of devices

According to a Google’s own Android Developer Dashboard, Android 4.0 is now actively running on 10% of all Android phones for the first time since the operating system has been released eight months ago.

Some shocking data can be seen on Google’s graphs, which show that 2.4% of devices (all tablets, presumably) are still running Android 3.0, a whopping 63.6% of devices are still running Android 2.3, which was released on December 6th, 2010. To make matters worse, 22.6% of devices are still running versions older than Android 2.3, and once you add in the massive array of carrier modifications, OEM customizations, “hacked” versions such as CyanogenMod, and so on and so forth it’s not hard to see that Android’s fragmentation problem is just as evident as always.
