AllThingsD has today confirmed that Apple will be hosting an invite only special event to unveil the iPad mini on October 23rd. This comes after previous rumors suggested that Apple would be inviting the press to an October 17th special event on October 10th.
The iPad mini, as we’ve been calling it, is expected to be a 7.8″ variant of the Apple iPad with a 1024×768 resolution and a Lightning connector. What’s less certain is whether or not the iPad mini will have an A5 processor like the new iPod touch and the iPhone 4S, an A5X like on the third-generation iPad, or an A6 processor like the one found in the new iPhone 5.
