iPad mini parts leak out before rumored upcoming special event

Apple rumors are difficult beasts to tackle (which is why we usually don’t bother reporting on them at all), however every once and a while rumors get so ramped up with so many different sources and outlets confirming virtually the same things, we have no choice but to have to believe there’s something behind the rumors. That’s exactly where we’re at with the much rumored iPad mini, with photos of almost certainly genuine parts having just made their way on the internet.

The photos show that two different colored iPad mini’s are indeed likely far along in production – a black option, and a white option. The black model seems to have taken a fair bit of design cues from the iPhone 5 as the entire back plate is black aluminum, similar to the rim of the iPhone 5. The black panel caught in these photos also happen to have the plastic black bar towards the top of the device, which has been present on every 3G/LTE model of the iPad thus far, pretty much confirming that we’ll get the usual mix of Wi-Fi/LTE iPad’s. The photo also confirms a Lightening connector.

Meanwhile, our look at the white model remains limited to the front panel, which features that 7.85″ screen, a front-facing camera, and the usual circular home button. The design is exactly as was described by earlier leaks, including a narrow screen bezel on the right hand sides that gives the device proportions close to iPod touch’s and iPhone’s rather than other iPad’s.

The second big news to come out on the iPad mini front is that the widely respected outlet Fortune has reported that Apple will be issuing invites to the press on October 10th to a Special Event, which is said to be primarily for announcing the new iPad mini.
