iPhone 5 on Verizon gets WiFi firmware update

If you’re the lucky owner of an iPhone 5 on Verizon, you’ve hit today’s jackpot my friend – Apple has just pushed forward a carrier update that fixes a bug that would use valuable data at alarming rates, even while connected to WiFi.

Of course, you could also consider the fact that you had to put up with larger than normal amounts of data usage for a week or two, but what’s the sunny optimism in saying it that way? The update should be available for all users now and can be manually installed by going into Settings > About > General and following the onscreen instructions.

Verizon has also confirmed to worried customers that any data used by this glitch won’t go against your overall allotment of data for the month, meaning you won’t have to pay for any overages this may have caused.
