Nintendo announces Circle Pad for 3DS XL, still unsightly as ever
It should come to no surprise to most of you that I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for Nintendo. I’ve grown up with their consoles, being an avid player of the original NES, the SNES, the N64, Gamecube, and Wii. I’ve already pre-ordered my Wii U. But considering all that I believe the company does right, it’s even more painful for me that the Circle Pad is so horribly and clearly inappropriately wrong.
Apparently Nintendo hasn’t learnt its lesson – despite the fact that almost nobody liked the original Circle Pad for the first generation 3DS, Nintendo has now announced the Circle Pad for the 3DS XL. If Nintendo is that desperate for games to utilize that additional joystick, why didn’t they just build it right into the 3DS XL?
The Circle Pad for 3DS XL goes on sale in Japan “this holiday season”. Pricing has yet to be announced, but the original Circle Pad for 3DS sells for ¥1,500 ($19.50), so I can’t imagine it’ll be much more than that.
