Sony announces redesigned PlayStation 3
In a bit of a surprise move, Sony’s just announced an all new redesigned PlayStation 3 model in Japan.
Details are scarce right now, but the new PlayStation 3 will be significantly thinner – up to 25% thinner, if reports are accurate, then the model it replaces and 50% thinner than the original PlayStation 3 model from 2006.
The new console will be launching in two configurations, a 250GB option and a 500GB option. Both will come in Black initially, and then in white a little later on.
Both configurations are launching in black October 4th in Japan in black, and November 22nd in white. The 250GB will be launching September 25th in the US and the 500GB on October 30th. PAL regions will also also see an option with 12GB of storage on October 12th.
The 250GB will be priced at $269 and the 500GB at $299. The 12GB will launch in select regions for 229 euros.
