Apple CEO Tim Cook promises 2014 will be a “big year” for Apple

apple-logo-wwdc13Apple CEO Tim Cook is at it again, this time raising everyone’s hopes and dreams with a new internal memo sent out to all Apple employees over the weekend. In the memo, Tim Cook thanks the teams at Apple for a great 2013, and promises that 2014 will be a “big year” for the fruit company.

While it’s not uncommon for a CEO to try to drum up interest and excitement in their company, there does seem to be ample reason to get excited. For one, Apple will almost certainly be significantly upgrading their flagship iPhone line for the first time since the iPhone 5 last year, likely with a larger 5-inch (or so) screen with a higher resolution and a new body shape. Then, of course, there is the Apple smart watch – the all but confirmed iOS based wristwatch which is rumored to be announced as soon as January 2014.

Finally, there’s the long awaited Apple TV – no, not that Apple TV, however there’s plenty of reason to believe that the Apple TV we all know and love will see some sort of significant upgrade as well. What I’m talking about isĀ the Apple TV – the Apple branded television set rumored for a late 2014 release, likely in at least two sizes and configurations. This rumor stems from a quote by the late Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who famously promised that Apple had “cracked” a revolutionary new take on the television set.

2013 was undoubtably an off year for Apple, so here’s to hoping that 2014 will indeed be as big of an upgrade as Tim Cook is promising. Come on Apple, we love surprises.
