Tumblr has never been afraid to try new things, so when I read that they had launched a new iOS application today I was far from surprised. The new app is called “Photoset”, and essentially it allows you to take or pic photos, group them together, set a caption, date, and location of an event, and then Photoset will create a unique URL for you to share. No registration required, no Tumblr account necessary. Easy.
Photoset even allows for some basic customization options, including giving users the ability to chose the size and focus of different photos in a set. The application also has some built in sharing capabilities, of course, meaning you’re able to share your set with Twitter or Tumblr. You can also chose to keep your set private, if you’d like.
The experience isn’t perfect though – customization could definitely be easier/more intuitive, and I’d like to have more control of what the resulting page looks like.
You can check out an example page I just threw together using Photoset here. It’s a pretty cool way to share photos.
